    Events We Created
On September 14, 2024, in Aberdeen, Scotland with the support of the Department of Anthropology at the Duncan Rice Library at the University of Aberdeen, we held the first Indigenous Canadian led academic event called -

    Indigenous Symposium:
Decolonising Methodologies and Integrating Promising Practices between the United Kingdom and Canada

It was an event intended to discuss how ‘Indigenous game changers’, and allies are working towards addressing the darker realities of colonialism in the workspace while making efforts towards empowering Indigenous peoples in Canada. This was a step towards addressing practical ways to understand how to improve the current relationship between Indigenous peoples in Canada and the United Kingdom, given our complex colonial history.

The panels consisted of honourable Indigenous game changers in Canada, and allies in the United Kingdom who are contributing to systemic change for Indigenous peoples.

Honourable distinguished panelists (left to right) -

Mike Diabo, Dr. Robert Wishart, Robin Decontie, Linda Neacappo-Rodrique, Mona Tolley, Grand Chief of the Algonquin Anishinabeg Nation Tribal Council (AANTC) Savanna McGregor, The Grand Council of the Eeyou Istchee (Cree Nation) Mandy Gull-Masty, and Jonathan Parenteau.
